Sociumship started by providing personalized consultation to founders, investors and executives looking to scale and sell their ideas quickly or build legacy brands. In its first year, our private firm was successful earning clients across multiple industries. Today, our stripes span from startups to $40B public companies within the apparel, beauty, CPG, cannabis, education, esports, film, fitness, hospitality, legal, nutrition, real estate and SaaS spaces.
Sociumship specializes in preparing startups to enter and compete in market by providing strategic internal consulting, brand management strategy, business modeling, and growth planning services, including investment fundraising tools and support. We have a knack for conceiving unorthodox brand strategies and proven yet inventive tactics for growth in increasingly competitive product categories. For established businesses looking for a fresh approach, we apply these services with a startup mindset.
Socium means partner in Greek and ship is a play on partnership. Our logo represents a flying tortoise in neon green hitching a ride on a superhero's red cape. Our firm's brand is symbolic for the critical business balance between “slow and steady wins the race” and the entrepreneur’s need for speed.
Regardless of your startup stage or business state, we'll help you pick up where you left off. Have some fun exploring our site and tell us how we can help.
After working with 10 different founders and witnessing the very best and worst of startup times, it was time for Sociumship.
Sociumship was founded in 2017 by our Managing Director Ivan Hernandez and launched with the help of our Advisory Board. Before Sociumship, Ivan served in marketing leadership capacities for Red Bull, Muscle Milk, Quest Bar, and Abbott Nutrition. At Red Bull, he implemented regional consumer programs and marketing practices that scaled globally, and secured national partnerships which remain active today. As national director at Muscle Milk, Ivan oversaw retail marketing and global product launches with the PepsiCo Allied Brands Division helping to produce a $450M exit to Hormel Foods and later to PepsiCo. As a senior executive at Quest Bar, he reorganized the brand’s marketing structure and successfully launched its first-ever limited-time product campaign generating nearly +$20M and helping to maintain a $1B valuation for an eventual exit to The Simply Good Foods Company. Lastly, as head of sports nutrition marketing at Abbott, he recalibrated the division’s marketing and sales structure to help redirect its product portfolio towards growth within an $8B portfolio.
Ivan's background before CPG includes corporate BTB sales at AT&T and FedEx, as well as legal research and contract management with the Legal Aid Bar Association and SAG-AFTRA. Early in his career, he led the activation of major productions, including the first public luncheon for the 14th Dalai Lama, press conferences for President Bill Clinton, box office films like The Hours and Miami Vice, and music videos featuring Ricky Martin, Christina Aguilera and Queen Latifah.
Ivan holds a BA in Business Management from Florida International University, an MFA in Communications from the University of Miami - where he represented his graduating class at Yale University’s Diversity Conference, and continued studies in Digital Media from Duke University. He has also served as Adjunct Professor in Marketing at The Art Institute.
In addition to Sociumship, Ivan currently serves as Advisor and Council Member to three investment analytics firms, Contributing Editor for Forbes Entrepreneurs, Board Member to Colors Youth Counseling, and Ambassador for the American Heart Association. He and members of the Advisory Board may be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
